Rachel’s Inspiration

My couples really inspire me, and it’s important that we are a good fit. We work closely together so you need to like and trust me, and align with my natural style. Together we bounce ideas off each-other make the whole process fun and enjoyable, just as it should be.

There is nothing better than finding people you connect with – that’s when the magic really happens.

I’m forever trawling through the latest fashion magazines, seeking out new spaces that excite me creatively, and love to come up with new ideas and suggestions that could be used in your design to align with your vision and personality to build an event completely unique to you.

Signature style

My personal style is best described as quiet luxury – a bit of a buzz word at the moment but one that resonates. I believe that if you’re going to do, or have something, it should be done well and never compromise on the quality.

I enjoy using colour and pattern in design to bring in playful elements, but it needs to be curated with care.

I also LOVE good party, as do my couples. With that in mind I like to take you and your guests on a journey throughout the celebrations, building the party vibe throughout the day. When the dance-floor is finally revealed everyone is ready to get their groove on and have the best night of their lives.

To me there is nothing better than seeing all your guests jumping to the beat of the music. Just epic!!

If I had to choose one thing that could be banned from weddings it would be disposable flip-flops. Please get some amazing trainers instead!

Where did the name Salt and Scent come from?

“Salt” symbolises the essence of the earth, grounding us in sustainable practices, while “Scent” represents the unforgettable memories we create for each event.

We do our best to source suppliers that share our values, and our home office is now powered by solar so every email sent, and planning document printed comes with a touch of solar love. We understand that weddings will not be fully sustainable, but by selecting florists that don’t use floral foam, and caterers where food is responsibly sourced we can help to do our bit for the planet.

We encourage all our clients to choose a wedding scent; personal favourites are collections from Le Labo, Roja, and Jo Malone. They all smell incredible and fill a space with a dreamy scent that will evoke memories for years to come.

When do you start the design process?

We tend to start the design process no earlier than 14-12 months out. I know many might want to start earlier if you have a long lead time but trust us, your style will evolve, new suppliers and items come to the market and we want to make sure that you have exactly what you dreamt of on the day and not something you’ve grown tired of. We’re not saying you need to follow the latest trends but think about how much styles have changed over the years – when I started out chair covers and log slices as table centres were all the rage and we’re pretty sure that’s not what you would choose now…

Dreamy wedding locations

We love properties with a story behind them and particularly enjoy country houses, stately homes and castles. The logistics of working around a heritage property doesn’t scare us, it’s a challenge and our team thrives on problem solving. We also have a wealth of experience working with marquees at private homes which gives the flexibility to essentially build your own venue which is wonderful and gives endless options. Our availability

Committing to only a small number of full planning clients each year enables us to dedicate the time to plan your incredible wedding. We have just a couple of spaces remaining for 2024 so don’t delay.
